“Sticking to a strategy can actually reinforce your strengths”
In 2013, SODAQ chose to follow the vision of designing IoT devices for a better world, and in doing so minimize the impact our devices have on the environment. To achieve this goal it became clear that our devices would need to reduce their power consumption and operate off of harvested energy.
Before launching this new website, SODAQ turned to the transformation and business consultants from Novius to develop a 4-year strategy plan. We changed several of our core activities, renewed part of our strategy, changed our product portfolio, and looked-talked-listened to our target customers. We were pleasantly surprised that our original vision was still valid and the same.
SODAQ started in 2013 offering low-power weather stations across Africa. The necessity for communication solutions in remote areas combined with sensors turned into one of the first Internet of Things (IoT) solutions globally. SODAQ stands for Solar-powered Data Acquisition. “In this regard, to this day nothing has changed, except the size of our operation and number of projects and products. Sticking to a strategy can actually reinforce your strengths.” – Jan Willem Smeenk – CEO and founder of SODAQ
