A Vision That Ignited a Revolution
A decade ago, our story began with a visionary collective, a spark that ignited a revolution. Fast forward to today, and we’ve blossomed into a thriving team of 30+ individuals who share an unrelenting passion for pioneering a World-Friendly IoT planet. This vision took its official form in 2021.
Reflecting on Our Journey
As we celebrate this momentous occasion, it’s only fitting to take a moment to reflect on our remarkable milestones, highlighting the top 10 that have profoundly shaped SODAQ’s extraordinary journey:
1. SODAQ ONE (April 14, 2016)
On this day, we marked a significant moment with the launch of our first LoRa development board, SODAQ ONE. It was a leap towards unlocking the potential of IoT for developers and innovators worldwide.
2. LoRa World Record (November 5, 2016)
Breaking boundaries, we soared to new heights by launching a Helium balloon that achieved a world record for LoRa transmissions. This achievement demonstrated our commitment to pushing the boundaries of what IoT could achieve.
3. Pioneering NB-IOT (February 24, 2017)
In a groundbreaking move, we launched the world’s first NB-IOT board on Kickstarter. This innovation opened doors for IoT solutions that could connect with even greater efficiency and reliability.
4. Snuffelfiets (July 28, 2017)
The introduction of the Sniffer Bike, known as Snuffelfiets, marked a step forward in environmental AIR monitoring through IoT tracking and sensing technology, showcasing our dedication to creating solutions that benefit communities and the planet.
5. Cow Ear Tag (November 16, 2018)
Our collaboration with Moovement, focusing on tracking cattle with Cow Ear Tags, exemplified our commitment to creating real-world solutions that can transform the agriculture industries.
6. The Smart Label Story Begins
The story of the SODAQ Smart Label commenced in 2018 when Jan Willem Smeenk, SODAQ’s founder and co-founder of Booking.com, was approached by Bayer AG, the world’s largest pharmaceutical and biotechnology company. Bayer faced global shipping challenges, including lost shipments and significant losses. In response, they sought a universal tracking solution and came to SODAQ for the solution. As of 2022, SODAQ began developing different types of Smart Labels, including the groundbreaking rechargeable version, the TRACK Stealth.
7. New Home (April 1, 2019)
As SODAQ continued to expand and grow, both in ideas and space, we relocated to Bussumerstraat in Hilversum, a move that facilitated our relentless pursuit of innovation, growth and has become the home of our now 30+ employees.
8. TRACKing Excellence (December 1, 2020)
The launch of SODAQ Track demonstrated our commitment to delivering revolutionary tracking solutions that empower supply chains and business worldwide.
9. Locator One and Basetime (August 16, 2021)
We launched Locator One and our sister company, Basetime, was founded. Combining the Power of Geodesy and IoT to transform the future of movement monitoring.
10. Embracing Sustainability: SODAQ's Transition to "World-Friendly IoT" (April 2023)
In April 2022, SODAQ unveiled its transformative shift towards “World-Friendly IoT.” This pivotal milestone reflects our company’s commitment to sustainability and responsible technology, following our legacy of positive impact from the first solar-powered weather station in Africa. With this rebranding, we boldly embrace a future focused on creating a better world through innovative and environmentally conscious IoT solutions.
